Prof. Dr. Anja Hilbert

Prof. Dr. Anja Hilbert Prof. Dr. Anja Hilbert is Professor of Behavioral Medicine at Leipzig University, a licensed psychological psychotherapist, and the psychological director of the Leipzig Outpatient Clinic for Obesity Treatment for children, adolescents and adults. She is an internationally recognized expert in the psychosocial aspects of obesity and binge-eating disorder across the lifespan, with a particular focus on the development and evaluation of psychological interventions. She completed her academic training and habilitation at Philipps-Universität Marburg, held a professorship in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and currently heads the Research Unit Behavioral Medicine at Leipzig University Medical Center. Prof. Hilbert leads numerous externally funded research projects, including the Psychosocial Registry of Obesity, and has published extensively in the field. She serves as an editor for prominent journals, including the International Journal of Eating Disorders and Obesity Facts, has held leadership positions in national and international scientific societies, and has received several prestigious awards, including the Christina Barz Research Award and the Lilly Quality of Life Award.
