MEDIculous REMeDy is a European Doctoral Network advancing precision medicine for obesity, diabetes and their associated complications. The network addresses a central challenge in metabolic health: metabolic disease heterogeneity. Patients with similar clinical diagnoses often differ substantially in their underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms, disease progression and response to therapy, limiting the effectiveness of current prevention and treatment strategies.

By bringing together experts from leading universities, hospitals, industry and patient organizations across Europe, MEDIculous REMeDy investigates this heterogeneity across the entire disease spectrum – from predisposition through early metabolic dysfunction and obesity to advanced diabetes and its complications. Combining patient data with advanced laboratory models, multi-omics technologies and artificial intelligence, the network seeks to uncover the biological mechanisms underlying this heterogeneity to identify new biomarkers, therapeutic targets and predictors of treatment response. At the same time, MEDIculous REMeDy trains the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers with the scientific, computational and leadership skills needed to advance precision medicine and translate research discoveries into better patient care.
