Genos is a research-intensive small-medium enterprise (SME) situated within the Business Innovation Center of Croatia (BICRO) BIOCentre biotech start-up incubator in Zagreb, Croatia. It occupies an area of 700 m2, including 385 m2 of dedicated laboratory space that is set up for doing world class analytical chemistry. Accredited as a research organization by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Genos is a global leader in high‑throughput glycomics for personalized medicine and is ranked as the top research institution in Croatia by the World Bank (based on H-index and citations). It currently employs 44 researchers, including 16 who obtained their PhDs internally, and fosters "brain circulation" by hosting diverse international talent. In addition, Genos serves as a premier regional training hub where early career researchers can master cutting-edge analytical techniques, such as ultra-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. A recent review in Chemical Reviews reported that Genos has performed over 80% of all published large-scale glycomic analyses globally over the past 15 years. Genos is a regional leader in securing competitive EU funding, with a track record of 21 successful projects across the FP7, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe programmes.
